The list of “anticancer” foods seems to increase more and more, directly related to the studies that are being done on cancer cells and the effect that a healthy, fresh and “green” diet can have on their decrease.
Here is a list of products to be introduced in the daily diet to help us in prevention.
Tomatoes and mushrooms, watermelon and melon: the lycopene contained in these foods is one of the most powerful antioxidants. That of tomatoes is even more valuable, because associated with beta-carotene which prevents its dispersion during cooking. Mushrooms are rich in polysaccharides, precious and anticancer.
Carrots: very rich in beta-carotene, they should preferably be eaten raw or boiled but whole, so that they maintain their nutritional properties.
Oranges, kiwis, strawberries and berries: precious concentrates of vitamin C, which significantly reduces the risk of cancer. The latter are a precious concentrate of flavonoids and anthocyanins.
Onion and garlic: excellent antioxidant bulbs, especially precious when eaten raw.
Cereals (especially if whole) and legumes: rich in fiber, they help limit the absorption of fats and prevent colon cancer.
Klamath seaweed: precious natural food for its anticancer, immune, anti-inflammatory and antiviral antioxidants. It would seem that the fish is rich in omega 3 precisely because it feeds on this product, which lives in the depths of the sea.
Next to all these, we must add, always among the vegetables:
artichokes, pumpkin, peppers and peas, potatoes and cucumbers, fennel and parsley, asparagus and radishes.
In the fruit: apricots, blueberries and raspberries, together with chestnuts.
For seasonings, the antioxidant and anticancer par excellence is olive oil especially if extra virgin.
Fresh fish: everything, but with particular regard to molluscs and crustaceans. The omega 3 contained in all types of fish protect against prostate, colon and breast cancer. This food contains large quantities of selenium.
Seasoned fish: especially herring, they help in the prevention of tumors.
Calcium: many do not know that this mineral is a very powerful anti-cancer, especially for the prostate. We find it in many vegetables and in tap and bottled water, and in both cases it is easily assimilated by the body.
Spices and herbs such as turmeric, marjoram, thyme, oregano, basil and rosemary: all precious anticancer agents.
Green tea: it is strongly antioxidant.
Soy: rich in phytoestrogens, which protect against tumors that depend on hormonal dysfunctions.
And again: chocolate, flax seeds, yogurt.
Obviously, it must be considered that the action that a certain food carries out within our body has a totally different effect if consumed fried or grilled, since these cooking methods are negative for health.
The good news, in this sense, is that the approach to the “anti-cancer diet” is now quite widespread worldwide.
