For a long time we believed that the temperature of the human body was on average 37 degrees but experts in medicine believe that this figure no longer corresponds to the truth, as it is too high. More than real, the value taken as a reference for many years would have a historical value, as the measurement would have been approximate. Instead, a group of Stanford University researchers carried out research, analyzing data dating back to 1862, coming to the conclusion that there was an actual drop in body temperature .
To arrive at this conclusion, the researchers compared three different data sets related to temperature measurements in different time spans that would highlight how the temperature has decreased by 0.03 degrees every 10 years from 1862 to today, bringing the itself from the initial 37 degrees to 36.6 degrees.
To validate this theory, the researchers placed the emphasis on the fact that the decrease occurs in each of the three sets and that these present nonetheless homogeneous measurements; moreover, for the last sample we cannot even speak of imprecision of technology.
A further element supporting this thesis would be the fact that older people would have a higher temperature than younger people.
The elements that would have led to this progressive decrease in body temperature would be the progress of medicine , especially vaccines and antibiotics and generally a better lifestyle than in previous years.
